Keep water butts filled in case of hose bans.

Get into the habit of deadheading everything. Pansies will go on much longer if kept clean.

Iris should be divided this month with the exception of Iris unguicularis, the winter flowering variety. Cut back early flowering perennials for a second flush.

Keep picking Sweet Peas to prolong the flowering period. Dwarf varieties like Villa Roma will go on longer than the climbing types and should be given plenty of water.

Start collecting seed from your most admired Geraniums such as Buxton’s Blue.

Keep all container grown shrubs like Rhododendrons and Camellias constantly moist to ensure a good crop of flowers next Spring.

Onions will be approaching their harvest date. Do not turn the tops over it is not necessary.

July is the month for taking cuttings of almost anything including root cuttings.

Try pulling a few Carrots and picking some Runner Beans if they are forward enough.
