How to Grow Orlaya from Seed

White laceflower, Orlaya grandiflora, is a pretty Mediterranean plant that thrives in vineyards and olive groves bearing lovely fern-like foliage and clusters of pure white flowers, similar to lace-cap hydrangeas. Flowers appear over a long period and is an excellent addition in wildlife gardens where it is particularly attractive to hoverflies.

Sow in Autum and overwinter in a cold frame for early flowering plants, alternatively, sow seed in spring for plants that will flower into autumn.

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a very light sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep at a temperature of between 15-20C (59-68F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination.
